Infrastructure and Security

Back in 2013, we were approached to discuss the possibilities for a brand-new IT and communications environment for a financial services company. We assessed their needs at the time and proposed a design, ready for deployment and on-going management, suited to them and provided by us. This was not without a few bumps in the road though.

A big challenge of this project was that the client, at the time, had not yet secured premises so some aspects of the design had to be put on hold until the offices were secured and open. Furthermore, we had to understand and integrate with different finance applications which were critical to the everyday running of the business, but at the time unfamiliar to us. Despite these challenges, our goal was to create an environment where the client could work from wherever they wanted or needed to, securely and efficiently.

The client wanted both Windows and Mac hardware to work seamlessly on the same network. Given that they handled sensitive client information and were operating in a regulated industry, security was of utmost importance. We had to ensure that security did not hinder their users’ productivity but still kept their data safe.

With security and efficiency always in mind, Streym designed, supplied and deployed a network, a server environment, remote access solutions, an in-house telephony system, conferencing facilities, printers, user desktops & laptops, 100Mb leased lines, and cabling for the entire office.

The end result was an IT environment that was high performance, secure, and provided the users with flexibility while remaining highly resilient. The solution was also designed to scale as the plan was for the client to open additional sites within 24 months and we wanted to ensure that this was as seamless as possible.

Streym provided the client with on-going management of the entire environment and support for all the users. Streym also liaised with all 3rd party vendors to ensure that any issues that occurred were resolved quickly and effectively.

In the seven years that Streym have been working with the client, they have gone on to open a further two offices. The IT has seamlessly accommodated their growth and been an integral part of their success.
